Prior to the commencement of kennelling, Stewards were contacted by Ms J Ward (on behalf of Trainer - Mr G Gledhill), to advise that they were experiencing traffic delays en route to the track.  As a result, Stewards officially closed kennelling time at 4:40pm to allow the presentation of greyhounds Prince Mark (R7) and Top Alcohol (R8).  Stewards were satisfied with the explanation of Mr. G Gledhill and no action was taken.

Aztec Warrior was slow to begin.  Why Not Fletch and Happy Cruising collided soon after the start.  Playlord and Aztec Warrior collided approaching the first turn, checkinng Playlord.  Happy Cruising and Moondust collided approaching the first turn.  Moondust checked off Happy Cruising on the first turn, checking Big Cam, and severely checking Moondust which lost ground as a result.  Aztec Warrior checked off Cosmic Fantasy approaching the home turn.  Aztec Warrior raced wide on the home turn.  Why Not Fletch and Chief Siyan collided several times in the home straight.

Moondust was vetted following the event.  It was reported that the greyhound sustained a left hindleg back muscle injury, a 60 day stand down period was imposed.

Aztec Warrior was vetted following the event.  It was reported that the greyhound sustained an laceration to the tongue.  No stand down period was imposed.

Stewards spoke to Mr Alfred Barbara, the trainer of Emma Mia, regarding the length of time the greyhound has had between races.  Emma Mia last raced on 15 January 2018.  Mr Barbara stated that the greyhound was returning to racing following an extended spell.

Inga Ross and Laile Brobio were slow to begin.  Bombora Rocket and Laile Brobio collided soon after the start.  Bombora Rocket checked off Cosmic Brew approaching the first turn.  Inga Ross, Bombora Rocket and Laile Brobio collided several times on the first turn.  Milly's Missile and Laile Brobio collided on the home turn, checking Milly's Missile.  Laile Brobio checked off Milly's Missile on the home turn, checking Laile Brobio.  Bombora Rocket checked off Laile Brobio entering the home straight.

Skidlisha was a late scratching at 9:43 am, due to illness (GAR 23).  A 10 day stand down period was imposed.  Stewards will require a veterinary certificate before any future nomination will be accepted.

Stewards spoke to Mr Tim Noy regarding the direction that the greyhound Alpanda be boxed first.  Acting under GAR 52(2) Stewards directed that this box first be removed.

Fawn Regrets was very slow to begin (3L).  Kurri Kurri checked off Squishy Pea approaching the first turn, severely checking Kurri Kurri.  Bakali Louis checked off Squishy Pea approaching the first turn, checking Ivalise Allen.  Ima Maldini and Cruising Betty collided approaching the first turn.  Fawn Regrets and Kurri Kurri collided on the first turn, severely checking Kurri Kurri and My Barcia.  Ivalise Allen checked off Bakali Louis on the first turn, checking Ima Maldini.  Ima Maldini checked off Cruising Betty on the first turn.  Ivalise Allen and Cruising Betty collided approaching the home turn.  Kurri Kurri and My Barcia collided approaching the home turn and again entering the home straight.  Ivalise Allen raced wide in the home straight.

The Club Veterinary Surgeon examined Casanova and no illness was detected.  The greyhound was a late scratching at 4:32 pm, due to weight variation (GAR 39).  A 10 day stand down period was imposed.  Trainer, Mr Michael Said was fined the sum of $100.

Galo's Best was vetted following the event.  It was reported that there was no apparent injury found.

Meeting Comments:

Stewards opened an Inquiry into the conduct of licensed trainer, Mr Michael Said, during kennelling time after Stewards withdrew greyhound, Casanova (engaged in Race 5) due to a weight variation.  After taking preliinary evidence from Trainer, Mr M Said and Stewards - Mr B Blood and Ms L Fahry, Stewards have adjourned the matter to a date and time to be fixed.

Satisfactory Trial Results (GAR 77A) - Stewards spoke to Mr Michael Said, the trainer of Spur, regarding the length of time since the greyhound last raced.  Spur last raced on 29 December 2017.  Mr Said stated that the greyhound was returning to racing following after being retired.  Pursuant to GAR 77A, Spur trialled over the 390m from box one, weight 29.5 kgs, the greyhound was placed first in a field of four.  The time of the trial was 22:80, the greyhound won by a margin of 1.25 lengths.  Spur was Cleared.
