Billy Moran was slow to begin. Dewana Sprite and Jar Man collided soon after the start. Kraken Lightning and Chops Malone collided approaching the first turn. Kraken Lightning, Chops Malone, Dewana Sprite and Jar Man collided on the first turn, checking Chops Malone and Kentucky Sun; severely checking Dewana Sprite. Kraken Lightning checked off Chops Malone approaching the home turn and raced wide as a result.
Dewana Sprite underwent a post-race veterinary examination and no apparent injury could be detected.
