A pre-race sample was taken from Through.
Orleans was slow to begin. Blazin' Stripes and Nut And Bolt collided soon after the start. Ronray Legend, Jacobite Hammer and Nut And Bolt collided approaching the first turn, checking Jacobite Hammer. Blazin' Stripes and Through collided on the first turn, checking Through. Venus Allen raced wide and eased approaching the home turn. Ronray Legend raced wide approaching the home turn and collided with Venus Allen. Jacobite Hammer galloped on the heels of Nut And Bolt on the home turn, checking both greyhounds. Through checked off Jacobite Hammer on the home turn and collided with Orleans, checking both greyhounds. Nut And Bolt and Jacobite Hammer collided entering the home straight. Orleans and Ronray Legend collided entering the home straight, checking both greyhounds.
Venus Allen underwent a post-race veterinary examination and was found to have a right hindleg triangle injury, a five day stand down period was imposed. Stewards spoke to trainer, Mr Robert Taylor, regarding the greyhounds racing manners approaching the home turn. Acting under the provisions of GAR 69(B)(1), Venus Allen was charged with failing to pursue the lure with due commitment (by reason of injury). Mr Taylor pleaded guilty to the charge, Venus Allen must perform a Satisfactory Trial (all tracks) pursuant to GAR 69(B)(1)(a) before any future nomination will be accepted.
Ronray Legend underwent a post-race veterinary examination and was found to have pelvic and right hindleg triangle injury. A seven stand down period was imposed.
Stewards spoke to Mr Luke Harris regarding the performance of Ronray Legend approaching the home turn. Stewards deemed the performance unsatisfactory, acting in accordance with GAR 71, must perform a Satisfactory Trial (all tracks) before any future nomination will be accepted.
A post-race sample was taken from Blazin' Stripes - the winner of the event.
