Meeting Comments:

In accordance with the GRV Hot Weather Policy, this Meeting was deemed Heat Affected.  The outside temperature at start of kennelling was 36 degrees, the inside kennel temperature was 18.6 degrees.

When the greyhounds were retrieved for this event, the kennel temperature was 17.6 degrees. 

Curnow Keats and Dyna Waqa collided soon after the start.  Yongning and Dyna Quark collided soon after the start checking Dyna Quark and Out Break.  Saint West, Curnow Keats and Dyna Waqa collided approaching the first turn.  Dyna Varsity and Yongning collided approaching the first turn checking Yongning.  Dyna Varsity, Saint West and Curnow Keats collided on the first turn checking Saint West and Vanna Allen.  Dyna Varsity and Curnow Keats collided on the first turn checking Dyna Varsity.  Dyna Quark and Dyna Waqa collided on the first  turn.  Yongning contacted the running rail on the first turn.  Dyna Quark checked off Curnow Keats approaching the second turn and collided with Dyna Waqa.  Out Break checked off Dyna Quark entering the back straight and collided with Dyna Waqa, checking both greyhounds.  Out Break and Saint West collided in the back straight checking Out Break.  Out Break and Dyna Waqa collided on the third turn checking Out Break.  Yongning and Dyna Quark collided in the home straight.

Out Break was vetted following the event.  It was reported that there was no apparent injury found.

A sample was taken from Dyna Varsity, the winner of the event.

Mepunga Frankie and Steinbrenner were slow to begin and collided soon after the start.  Lektra Spring and Lektra Rainbow collided soon after the start and again approaching the first turn.  Spandau Ballet, Mepunga Frankie and Steinbrenner collided approaching the first turn.  Spandau Ballet and Mepunga Frankie collided approaching the first turn checking Spandau Ballet.  Spandau Ballet and Dazzling Bling collided on the first turn checking Spandau Ballet.  Dazzling Bling contacted the rail on the first turn.  Lektra Rainbow and Steinbrenner collided on the first turn checking Mepunga Frankie.  Lektra Rainbow and Steinbrenner collided approaching the second turn checking Steinbrenner, severely checking Lektra Rainbow and Mepunga Frankie.  Steinbrenner galloped on the heels of Haunting approaching the third turn, severely checking Steinbrenner which stumbled as a result.  Lektra Rainbow checked off Steinbrenner on the third turn.  Haunting and Dazzling Bling collided entering the home straight.

Steinbrenner was vetted following the event.  It was reported that there was no apparent injury found. 

Samples were taken from the following placegetters:  Lektra Spring (1st), Fancy Francene (2nd) and Spandau Ballet (3rd).

Dybala, Seal The Deal and Kraken Dust were slow to begin.  El Helecho, Seal The Deal and Delta Rhode collided soon after the start checking Seal The Deal.  El Helecho and Seal The Deal collided on the first turn.  Hungry An' Hollo faltered approaching the second turn causing the greyhound to race wide and lose ground.  El Helecho and Seal The Deal collided on the second turn.  Hungry An' Hollo and Delta Rhode collided in the back straight, severely checking both greyhounds.  Hungry An' Hollo subsequently pulled up as a result.  Back Burn and Kraken Dust collided approaching the winning post.

Hungry An' Hollo was vetted following the event.  It was reported that the greyhound sustained an injury to the right back muscle, a 28 day stand down period was imposed.

Delta Rhode was vetted following the event.  It was reported that the greyhound sustained an injury to the right hamstrings, a 5 day stand down period was imposed.

Samples were taken from the following placegetters:  Crimson Vixen (1st), Back Burn (2nd) and Kraken Dust (3rd).

Out of Competition Samples were taken from Double Gee, Boom Down, Tornado Tears, Hot Tip (scratched), Peppertide and Taken King (Res) engaged in this event on Monday 25 February 2019.

Out of Competition Samples were taken from Poco Dorado, Blue Moon Rising and Ebby Ripper engaged in this event on Tuesday 26 February 2019.

An Out of Competition Sample was taken from Black Impala engaged in this event on Friday 1 March 2019 pursuant to GAR 79A.

Black Impala and Blue Moon Rising were quick to begin.  Tornado Tears checked off Blue Moon Rising on the first turn checking Double Gee.  Double Gee and Tornado Tears collided approaching the second turn.  Boom Down and Tornado Tears collided approaching the second turn.  Tornado Tears contacted the running rail on the second turn.  Black Impala checked off Poco Dorado entering the back straight.  Boom Down, Double Gee and Black Impala collided on the fifth turn.

Peppertide was vetted following the event.  It was reported that the greyhound sustained an injury to the left back muscle, a 7 day stand down period was imposed.

Blue Striker and Dyna Chancer collided soon after the start.  Blackjack Neo, Benali and Neo Cleo collided soon after the start checking Benali.  Dyna Chancer, Tritt Tritt, Quip Allen and Blackjack Neo collided on the first turn checking Blackjack Neo.  Tritt Tritt, Quip Allen, Neo Cleo and Fire And Smoke collided on the first turn checking Neo Cleo, Fire And Smoke, Blackjack Neo and Benali.  Benali raced wide as a result.  Blackjack Neo checked off Quip Allen on the second turn.  Quip Allen and Neo Cleo collided on the third turn.  Dyna Chancer checked off Blue Striker approaching the home turn.  Blue Striker and Dyna Chancer collided entering the home straight checking Dyna Chancer.

Dyna Patty was quick to begin.  My Redeemer was slow to begin.  Dyna Oscar and Bago Bye Bye collided soon after the start.  Deliver, Shima Breeze and Black Opium collided approaching the first turn.  My Redeemer, Dyna Oscar, Deliver and Shima Breeze collided on the first turn checking My Redeemer, Dyna Oscar, Bago Bye Bye, Deliver and Miss Splendamiro, severely checking Shima Breeze which stumbled.  My Redeemer and Shima Breeze collided on the first turn, severely checking Shima Breeze which stumbled as a result..  Dyna Patty and Black Opium collided on the second turn.  Deliver and Miss Splendamiro collided on the third turn.  My Redeemer checked off Dyna Oscar on the third turn.  Dyna Oscar and Bago Bye Bye collided approaching the home turn.  Bago Bye Bye and Miss Splendamiro collided several times in the home straight and approaching the winning post.

Shima Breeze was vetted following the event.  It was reported that there was no apparent injury found.

Bago Bye Bye was vetted following the event.  It was reported that the greyhound sustained an injury to the right back muscle, a 7 day stand down period was imposed.  Stewards spoke to Mr D Russell, Trainer of Bago Bye Bye regarding the greyhound's racing manners in the home straight. Mr Russell stated that he was of the belief Bago Bye Bye and Miss Spendamiro collided several times in the home straight which was confirmed after stewards reviewed the head on footage. After reviewing the head on footage, as well as taking into account Mr Russell's submissions and the injury sustained to the greyhound, Stewards issued Bago Bye Bye with a warning regarding it's racing manners in the home straight.

Charlie Cockatoo was a late scratching at 6.23pm on the advice of the Club’s Veterinary Surgeon due to a sprain to the right hock. A 7 day stand down period was imposed.

A pre-race sample was taken from Mepunga Prue.

Lightning Ben was slow to begin.  Loch Tight and Zelzer Allen collided soon after the start.  Loch Tight, Zelzer Allen and Go Seek Heidi collided soon after the start checking Zelzer Allen.  Loch Tight and Go Seek Heidi collided approaching the first turn checking Go Seek Heidi.  Zelzer Allen and Go Seek Heidi collided approaching the first turn.  Zelzer Allen and Lightning Ben collided on the first turn, severely checking Lightning Ben, severely checking Zelzer Allen which faltered and tailed off as a result.  Start A Riot marred Mepunga Prue in the home straight.

Zelzer Allen was vetted following the event.  It was reported that the greyhound sustained an injury to the right chest muscle, a 21 day stand down period was imposed.

Start A Riot was vetted following the event.  It was reported that there was no apparent injury found. Stewards spoke to Mrs L. Hellmuth, Handler of the greyhound Start A Riot.  Acting under GAR 69(1) stewards charged Start A Riot with marring. Mrs Hellmuth pleaded not guilty to the charge, Start A Riot was found guilty and suspended the greyhound for 28 days at The Meadows and it was directed that the greyhound perform a Satisfactory Trial (all tracks), pursuant to GAR 69(2)(a) before any future nomination will be accepted.

Reiko Ablett, Fast Car Driving, Poke The Bear, Italian Plastic, Jebrynah and Orson Allen collided soon after the start checking Reiko Ablett, Fast Car Driving and Poke The Bear.  Fast Car Driving and Poke The Bear collided on the first turn.  Reiko Ablett and Orson Allen collided on the first turn.  Italian Plastic galloped on the heels of Jebrynah on the first turn.  Orson Allen checked off Jebrynah on the first turn.  Reiko Ablett and Orson Allen collided approaching the second turn checking Orson Allen, severely checking Fast Car Driving.  Reiko Ablett and Poke The Bear collided entering the back straight checking Poke The Bear.

Vivatar was quick to begin.  Dyna Saurus, Koenigsegg One, Grace Ali and Dyna Romy were slow to begin.  Dyna Saurus, Grace Ali and Dyna Romy collided approaching the first turn.  Dyna Saurus and Grace Ali collided approaching the first turn checking both greyhounds.  Hot Finish and Shifting Sands collided on the first turn checking Shifting Sands.  Shifting Sands contacted the running rail on the second turn.  Dyna Romy checked off Dyna Yappy on the second turn.  Koenigsegg One and Grace Ali collided on the second turn checking Koenigsegg One, severely checking Grace Ali.  Dyna Saurus and Grace Ali collided entering the home straight checking Dyna Saurus.

Zoro Bale, Mepunga Molly and Rebecca Bale were quick to begin.  Blistering and Black Signature collided soon after the start checking Black Signature.  Fabwik and Karise Fusileer collided approaching the first turn.  Rebecca Bale and Charging Yaala collided on the first turn.  Mepunga Molly checked off Rebecca Bale on the first turn and collided with Fabwik and Karise Fusileer.  Blistering checked off Mepunga Molly on the first turn and collided with Black Signature.  Zoro Bale, Mepunga Molly and Karise Fusileer collided on the third turn checking Mepunga Molly and Blistering.  Black Signature and Karise Fusileer collided entering the home straight checking Black Signature which stumbled and fell as a result.

Black Signature was vetted following the event.  It was reported that there was no apparent injury found.
