Steward's Report
Charlie Cockatoo was a late scratching at 6.23pm on the advice of the Club’s Veterinary Surgeon due to a sprain to the right hock. A 7 day stand down period was imposed.
A pre-race sample was taken from Mepunga Prue.
Lightning Ben was slow to begin. Loch Tight and Zelzer Allen collided soon after the start. Loch Tight, Zelzer Allen and Go Seek Heidi collided soon after the start checking Zelzer Allen. Loch Tight and Go Seek Heidi collided approaching the first turn checking Go Seek Heidi. Zelzer Allen and Go Seek Heidi collided approaching the first turn. Zelzer Allen and Lightning Ben collided on the first turn, severely checking Lightning Ben, severely checking Zelzer Allen which faltered and tailed off as a result. Start A Riot marred Mepunga Prue in the home straight.
Zelzer Allen was vetted following the event. It was reported that the greyhound sustained an injury to the right chest muscle, a 21 day stand down period was imposed.
Start A Riot was vetted following the event. It was reported that there was no apparent injury found. Stewards spoke to Mrs L. Hellmuth, Handler of the greyhound Start A Riot. Acting under GAR 69(1) stewards charged Start A Riot with marring. Mrs Hellmuth pleaded not guilty to the charge, Start A Riot was found guilty and suspended the greyhound for 28 days at The Meadows and it was directed that the greyhound perform a Satisfactory Trial (all tracks), pursuant to GAR 69(2)(a) before any future nomination will be accepted.
