Steward's Report
In accordance with the GRV Hot Weather Policy, this event was deemed Heat Affected. The outside temperature when kennels opened was 33.9 degrees.
The outside temperature at race start time was 34.0 degrees, the inside kennel temperature immediately prior to the race when the greyhounds were retrieved was 19.3 degrees, and the humidity was 37.5%.
The start of this race was delayed by approximately 3 1/2 minutes to allow the cover to be placed on the lure carriage. Stewards will follow up with Club management as to why this had not taken place.
Wally Milne crossed to the rail soon after the start. Neil's Girl and Someone Blue collided soon after the start. Ashby Quick and Someone Blue collided on the first turn, severely checking Ashby Quick which lost ground as a result. Wally Milne and Someone Blue collided approaching the home turn, checking Someone Blue which lost ground as a result.
Ashby Quick was vetted following the event. It was reported that the greyhound sustained a right hindleg pencil/whip injury, a seven day stand down period was imposed.
