Steward's Report
A race-day sample was taken from Hot Tip earlier today during a kennel visit by Stewards.
The outside temperature at race start time was 30.1 degrees, the inside kennel temperature immediately prior to the race when the greyhounds were retrieved was 21.0 degrees.
A pre-race sample was taken from Sweet Bourbski.
Sweet Bourbski was quick to begin. Vrontios was slow to begin.
Annie Lava and McIvor Verna collided approaching the first turn checking McIvor Verna. Annie Lava, Hot Tip and Vrontios collided on the first turn checking Annie Lava and Hot Tip. Annie Lava raced wide approaching the second turn checking Hot Tip and Equilibrium. McIvor Verna and Vrontios collided approaching the second turn.
Hot Tip was vetted following the event after the greyhound preformed below market expectations. It was reported that the greyhound sustained a right wrist sprain, a 14 day stand down period was imposed.
Peppertide was vetted following the event. It was reported that there was no apparent injury found.
Stewards issued a warning to Mr B. Pursell, the trainer of Peppertide regarding the greyhound’s racing manners approaching the fourth turn.
A post-race sample was taken from Soda Flakes - winner of the event.
Stewards spoke to Ms C. Brinsley and Mr T. Whitford after the engaged catcher Mr Whitford failed to fulfil his catching engagement of the greyhound Sweet Bourbski in this event. Stewards issued Ms Brinsley a warning for failing to ensure a catcher was present for Sweet Bourbski, pursuant to GAR 48. Stewards issued Mr Whitford a warning after he negligently failed to catch the greyhound Sweet Bourbski in this event, pursuant to GAR 86 (o).
