Steward's Report
A pre-race sample was taken from Major Think.
Wise Lewis was slow to begin. Cass' Cass and Meehan Barney collided soon after the start, checking both greyhounds. Ruby Cabang and Cass' Cass collided approaching the first turn. Wise Lewis checked off Siamese Dream on the first turn, checking Siamese Dream, Cataleya and Crackerjack Blax. Major Think eased on the first turn. Major Think checked off Siamese Dream approaching the second turn. Major Think checked off Cass' Cass on the second turn. Meehan Barney and Wise Lewis collided on the second turn. Crackerjack Blax faltered on the second turn and tailed off. Major Think eased on the second turn. Cataleya checked off Wise Lewis on the third turn.
Major Think was vetted following the event. It was reported that the greyhound sustained left foreleg trapezius muscle, and right hindleg pencil/whip and hip injuries, a 14 day stand down period was imposed.
Stewards spoke to Mrs Marlene Schmidt, the representative of the greyhound Major Think, regarding the greyhounds racing manners on the first and second turns. Acting under GAR 69(A)(1) Stewards charged Major Think with failing to pursue the lure with due commitment. Mrs Schmidt pleaded guilty to the charge, Major Think was found guilty and suspended the greyhound for 12 months (all tracks) and it was directed that the greyhound perform a Satisfactory Trial (all tracks), pursuant to GAR 69(A)(2)(c), before any future nomination will be accepted.
Cass' Cass was vetted following the event. It was reported that the greyhound sustained a left foreleg wrist injury, a 21 day stand down period was imposed.
Crackerjack Blax was vetted following the event. It was reported that the greyhound sustained a right hindleg hock injury, a 90 day stand down period was imposed.
Stewards spoke to Trainer Gregory Berry regarding the difficulty of handler Ms Hoai Do boxing the greyhound Ruby Cabang. Stewards directed that Ms Do gain further experience and box a greyhound to the satisfactoin of Stewards before handling at a race meeting in future pursuant to GAR 45.
