Shanlyn Dolly was slow to begin.  Bob's Cash and Mother Monster collided soon after the start.  Go Maxi checked off Mother Monster approaching the first turn.  Spruce Moose and Aston Marise collided approaching the first turn.  Spruce Moose checked off Aston Marise on the first turn.  Midnight Muscat and Aston Marise collided approaching the home turn checking Aston Marise; Aston Marise lost ground as a result.  Shanlyn Dolly checked off Go Maxi approaching the home turn.  Spruce Moose and Aston Marise collided approaching the home turn.  Shanlyn Dolly checked off Midnight Muscat on the home turn.

Aston Marise was vetted following the event.  It was reported that the greyhound sustained abrasions to its right hock.  A 10 day stand down period was imposed.

Gene Man was slow to begin.  Knuckle Biter and Final Chimes collided several times from soon after the start to the first turn.  Mia Maestro checked off Red Queen soon after the start.  Final Chimes checked off Knuckle Biter on the first turn and again approaching the home turn.

Zulu Moon was a late scratching at 6:25pm due to non arrival (GAR 31).  A 28 day stand down period was imposed.  Trainer, Ms V. Watson was fined the sum of $100.

In Orbit was slow to begin.  Blue Irish and In Orbit collided approaching the first turn.  In Orbit and Zipping Milly collided approaching the first turn checking Zipping Milly.  Good One Carl and Aston Jabari collided on the home turn causing Good One Carl to gallop on the heels Aston Jabari; Good One Carl and Jabari were severely checked as a result.

Lektra Boss was a late scratching at 6:08pm on the advice of the Club’s Veterinary Surgeon due to an injured right monkey muscle.  A 7 day stand down period was imposed.

The Club Veterinary Surgeon examined Nitroniun and no illness was detected.  The greyhound was a late scratching at 6:16pm due to weight variation (GAR 39).  A 10 day stand down period was imposed.  Trainer, Mr. V. Tullio was fined the sum of $100.

Stewards spoke to Mr. D. Irby, the trainer of She's Dee Rocket regarding the length of time the greyhound has had between races.  She's Dee Rocket last raced on 29th November, 2017 and is returning to racing following a torn right back muscle.

Tijuana Icon was quick to begin.  Tijuana Icon checked off Shot To Glory on the first turn causing Rahni to checked off Tijuana Icon.

Whiney Whine was quick to begin.  Jagger Circuit was very slow to begin (3 lengths).  So Easy and Sale Graze Bindi collided soon after the start.  Notorious King and Shall She Cindy collided approaching the first turn.  Loadstar checked off Notorious King approaching the first turn.  So Easy, Sale Graze Bindi and Loadstar collided on the first turn checking Sale Graze Bindi, Loadstar and Psychedelic Jay.  Psychedelic Jay and Jagger Circuit collided on the third turn.

Temujin and Shanakee collided soon after the start.  Shanakee checked off Magical Bling approaching the first turn.  Magical Bling, Special Member and Major Think collided on the first turn.  Major Think eased on the first turn, lost ground and took no competitive part in the remainder of the event.  Temujin and Shanakee collided approaching the winning post.

Major Think was vetted following the event.  It was reported that there was no apparent injury found.

Stewards spoke to Ms. M. Schmidt, the representative of the greyhound Major Think regarding the greyhound's racing manners on the first turn.  Acting under GAR 69(A)(1), Stewards charged Major Think with failing to pursue the lure with due commitment.  Ms. Schmidt pleaded guilty to the charge.  Major Think was found guilty and suspended for 3 months (all tracks) and it was directed that the greyhound perform a Satisfactory Trial (all tracks) pursuant to GAR 69(A)(2)(b), before any future nomination will be accepted.

Shrek's Typhoon was slow to begin.  Parish Power and Searching collided soon after the start.  Canya Wilber and Searching collided on the first turn.  Mini Diva contacted the running rail on the first turn.  Shrek's Typhoon, Parish Power and High Water collided on the first turn checking Shrek's Typhoon.  Parish Power checked off High Water approaching the home turn.  Shrek's Typhoon and Parish Power collided on the home turn.

Stewards spoke to Mrs. E. Johannsen, the handler of Leopardstown regarding the length of time the greyhound has had between races.  Leopardstown last raced on 17th October, 2017 and is returning to racing following a right hock injury.

Light The Track was slow to begin.  Wadelock Mindy and Leopardstown collided soon after the start.  Spazzy Blue and Light The Track collided approaching the second turn.  Leopardstown checked off Spazzy Blue on the third turn.  Adam Mandam and Light The Track collided entering the home straight.

Galloping Bluboy was very slow to begin (3 lengths).  Aston Venus and Cersei collided soon after the start and again approaching the first turn.  It's Fresh checked off Aston Venus on the first turn.  Galloping Bluboy checked off Python Pride on the home turn.  It's Fresh, Python Pride and Big Butterbean collided entering the home straight.  Cersei brushed the running rail in the home straight.

Boney Power and Architecture were quick to begin.  Aston Cuthbert, Mercy Percy and Shanlyn Sprite were slow to begin.  Mercy Percy and Shanlyn Sprite collided soon after the start checking Mercy Percy.  Yelredda Saint crossed to the rail on the first turn and collided with Boney Power; Boney Power, Yelredda Saint, Architecture and Shanlyn Sprite were checked as a result.  Aston Cuthbert checked off Yelredda Saint approaching the home turn checking Yelredda Saint and Mercy Percy; Mercy Percy raced wide as a result.  Yelredda Saint and Architecture collided entering the home straight.  Boney Power, Aston Cuthbert, Architecture and Yelredda Saint collided in the home straight.

A sample was taken from Fiesty Girl, the winner of the event.

Jimmy Vella was slow to begin.  Early Express and Cosmic Sole collided soon after the start.  Early Express, Cosmic Sole and Burnsy's Sam collided approaching the first turn checking Cosmic Sole and Burnsy's Sam.  Early Express checked off No Road approaching the first turn.  No Road and Vienna Gypsy collided on the first turn checking No Road.  No Road and Cosmic Sole collided on the first turn checking Cosmic Sole.  Why Not Cory and Cricket's Dash collided approaching the home turn.  Jimmy Vella clipped the heels of Why Not Cory approaching the home turn causing both greyhound's to fall checking No Road, Burnsy's Sam, Cosmic Sole and Early Express.

Why Not Cory was vetted following the event.  It was reported that the greyhound sustained an injury to its left calf muscle.  A 7 day stand down period was imposed.

Jimmy Vella was vetted following the event.  It was reported that the greyhound sustained abrasions to its right front toe.  No stand down period was imposed.

Buckle Up Todd was slow to begin.  Birkenhead, Really Magic and Tallinn Power collided approaching the first turn checking Really Magic.  Blitzen Bell and Tallinn Power collided on the first turn checking both greyhounds.  Blitzen Bell and Tallinn Power collided approaching the home turn checking Blitzen Bell.

Meeting Comments

Track Curator, Mr. T. Godfrey advised Stewards that the track was medium harrowed on Friday 2nd March 2018. 

Buck The Jockey was presented for a re-vet at the conclusion of kennelling and was cleared to race. 

Supplimentary Report

Stewards held an inquiry with Ms. K. Houlahan after she left the course without the permission of the Stewards following race 7 at Sale on 25 February, 2018.  Ms. Houlahan was found in breach of GAR 42(2) in that she did fail to check the clearance to leave the course form and gain authorisation from the Stewards prior to removing Empress Lu from the kennels. Ms Houlahan pleaded guilty to the charge and was fined the sum of $100.
