Steward's Report
An Out of Competition Sample was taken from Riveting engaged in this event on 9 February 2018 pursuant to GAR 79A.
Mr John Carr, trainer of Rodeo declared a new weight of 31.3 kgs for the greyhound in accordance with GAR 39(2). Rodeo last raced at 29.6 kgs.
A pre-race sample was taken from Nareen.
Good Odds Ava and Johnny Black were quick to begin. Riveting was slow to begin. Nareen, Rodeo and Sparky Neveelk collided approaching the first turn, checking Rodeo. Give Away King and Nareen collided approaching the first turn, checking Nareen. Riveting and Give Away King collided on the first turn, checking Give Away King. Rodeo raced wide on the first turn. Good Odds Ava and Riveting collided approaching the third turn, checking Good Odds Ava. Rodeo tailed off in the home straight.
Good Odds Ava was vetted following the event. It was reported that the greyhound sustained right hindleg hock and triangle injuries, a seven day stand down period was imposed.
Rodeo was vetted following the event. It was reported that the greyhound sustained left hindleg calf and triangle injuries, and bruising to the right medial elbow, a seven day stand down period was imposed.
Stewards spoke to Mr John Carr, the trainer of the greyhound Rodeo, who declined to have the greyhound re-vetted. Stewards deemed the performance of Rodeo unsatisfactory in this event and acting in accordance with GAR 71, Stewards directed that Rodeo must perform a Satisfactory Trial (all tracks) before any future nomination will be accepted.
