Steward's Report
A pre race sample was taken from Pat Malone.
Axel's A Rebel, Bombora Thunder and Mahjohn Heat were slow to begin. Axel's A Rebel checked off Bombora Thunder approaching the first turn, checking Mahjong Heat. Dyna Winkler galloped on the heels of Vixstar approaching the home turn, checking Dyna Winkler and Axel's A Rebel. Mahjong Heat checked Dyna Winkler approaching the home turn. Bombora Thunder raced wide in the home straight. Blackjack Cruise eased in the home straight and collided with Pat Malone.
Bombora Thunder was vetted after a fall in the catching pen. It was reported that there was no apparent injury found.
Stewards spoke to Mrs A Panetta, the trainer of the greyhound Blackjack Cruise regarding the greyhounds racing manners in the home straight. Blackjack Cruise was vetted following the event. It was reported that the greyhound sustained spike wounds to the left hind leg. No stand down period was imposed. Acting under GAR 69(B)(1), the stewards charged Blackjack Cruise with failing to pursue the lure with due commitment (by reason of injury). Mrs Panetta pleaded guilty to the charge, Blackjack Cruise was found guilty and stewards directed that the greyhound perform a Satisfactory Trial (all tracks) pursuant to GAR 69(B)(1)(a), before any future nomination will be accepted
Mahjong Heat was vetted following the event. It was reported that the greyhound sustained an injured left shoulder, a 10 day stand down period was imposed.
