Steward's Report
A pre-race sample was taken from Wendy Can't Run.
Wendy Can't Run, Aston Groucho, Chinookan Blue and Downing Street were slow to begin.
Chinookan Blue and Downing Street collided soon after the start checking Downing Street. Memphis Sky and Chinookan Blue collided on the first turn checking both greyhounds and causing both to race wide as a result. Matty Mateusz, Alina Grand and Miss Hanna Berry collided on the first turn checking Alina Grand and severely checking Miss Hanna Berry which fell with the muzzle becoming dislodged. Matty Mateusz and Aston Groucho collided on the third turn. Chinookan Blue veered out and marred Alina Grand approaching the home turn.
Miss Hanna Berry was vetted following the event. It was reported that the greyhound sustained a left monkey muscle injury, a 7 day stand down period was imposed.
Chinookan Blue was vetted following the event. It was reported that there was no apparent injury found.
Stewards spoke to Mr I. Dann, the trainer of the greyhound Chinookan Blue regarding the greyhounds racing manners approaching the home turn. Acting under GAR 69(1) stewards charged Chinookan Blue with marring. Mr Dann pleaded not guilty to the charge, Chinookan Blue was found guilty and suspended for 28 days at Cranbourne and it was directed that the greyhound perform a Satisfactory Trial (all tracks), pursuant to GAR 69(2)(a) before any future nomination will be accepted.
