Steward's Report
Coyote was a late scratching at 10.42am on the advice of GRV's Veterinary Surgeon due to swelling to the right carpal joint. A 7 day stand down period was imposed.
Lieu Knee Annie went up with the lids at box rise and was slow to begin. Jamie's Rocket and Leiu Knee Annie collided soon after the start. Don's Queen and Tansy Girl collided soon after the start. Rhiannon Royale crossed to the rail approaching the 250mtr mark checking Tansy Girl, Don's Queen, Leiu Knee Annie and Rhiannon Royale. Don's Queen and Rhiannon Royale collided at the 200mtr mark and again at the 100mtr mark. Just Blacky faltered approaching the winning post.
Just Blacky was vetted and after being re-vetted following event 5; it was reported that the greyhound sustained swelling and inflammation to the right radius, a 14 day stand down period was imposed. Stewards spoke to Mrs. C. Cortese the representative for Trainer D. Cortese regarding the manner in which Just Blacky raced apprpoaching the winning post. After taking into consideration the injury sustained to the greyhound; it was directed that Mrs. Cortese seek a follow-up Veterinary Consultation within 3 days as recommended by the on track Veterinary Surgeon. Stewards took no further action.
