Stewards spoke to Mr David Jensen, the representative of Aeroplane Noah, regarding the length of time the greyhound has had between races. Aeroplane Noah last raced on 27 August 2017 and is returning after a hock injury.

Isabella Girl was quick to begin.

Greysynd Hitman, Aeroplane Noah, Zachary Smith and Big Deal collided soon after the start, checking Zachary Smith and Big Deal. Aeroplane Noah and Big Deal collided at the 300m mark, checking Aeroplane Noah. Greysynd Hitman and Big Deal collided at the 250m mark, checking Greysynd Hitman. Greysynd Hitman and Big Deal collided approaching the 100m mark, checking Greysynd Hitman. Zachary Smith eased and lost ground at the 100m mark.

Zachary Smith was vetted following the event. After being re-vetted following event 4 it was reported that there was no apparent injury found. Stewards spoke to Mr Kenneth Howat, the trainer of the greyhound Zachary Smith, regarding the greyhound’s racing manners at the 100m mark. Acting under GAR 69(A)(1) stewards charged Zachary Smith with failing to pursue the lure with due commitment. Mr Howatt pleaded guilty to the charge, Zachary Smith was found guilty and suspended for 28 days at Healesville and it was directed that the greyhound perform a Satisfactory Trial (all tracks), pursuant to GAR 69(A)(2)(a) before any future nomination will be accepted.

Shooter's Odysey was slow to begin and crossed to the outside soon after the start. Krazy Jane and Crime Minister collided soon after the start and again at the 300m mark. Bushman's Legend and Amlin Freddie collided approaching the 250m mark. Amlin Freddie galloped on You Bandit at the 200m mark, checking Krazy Jane and Carlanna Casey, and severely checking Amlin Freddie and You Bandit; Amlin Freddie stumbled as a result.

Aye Milo was vetted following the event. After being re-vetted following event seven, it was reported that the greyhound sustained no apparent injury.

Stewards spoke to Mr Wade Green, the kennel representative for the greyhound Aye Milo. Stewards deemed the performance of Aye Milo unsatisfactory in this event and acting in accordance with GAR 71, directed that Aye Milo must perform a Satisfactory Trial (all tracks) before any future nomination will be accepted.

Tricky Trey, Acquainted and We Froff Dat collided soon after the start. We Froff Dat and Harsh Miles collided at the 300m mark. We Froff Dat, Harsh Miles and Tobias Kelton collided approaching the 100m mark.

Stewards spoke to licensed Catchers - Mr Shaun Lithgow, Ms Taylah Edwards, Ms Kathleen Newport, Mr Brayden Meecham and Mr Damien Horrigan regading an incident which occurred in the catching pen following the event when catching their respective greyhounds.  After hearing evidence from all Catchers and Healesville Club Official, Mr Ryan Johnson, Stewards reminded both Messrs Brayden Meechan and Damien Horrigan to be more diligent in catching greyhounds in future to ensure the safety of greyhounds and others in the catching pen.

Daintree Dynamo raced wide soon after the start and collided with Double The Magic, Dodge Ball, Frisco Liz and Pistol. Daintree Dynamo crossed to the outside approaching the 150m mark, checking Pistol, Frisco Liz, Dodge Ball and Take The Cake. Daintree Dynamo checked off Take the Cake at the 100m mark.

Poison Pen, Running Yards, Gotta Sideshow and Duff Bale collided soon after the start, checking Running Yards, Gotta Sideshow and Duff Bale. Running Yards and Duff Bale collided at the 250m mark. Running Yards and She's A Rebel collided approaching the 100m mark.

Gotta Sideshow was vetted following the event. It was reported that the greyhound sustained no apparent injury. No stand down period was imposed.

Grand Hero was vetted following the event. It was reported that the greyhound sustained a carpal sprain of the left wrist. A five-day stand down period was imposed.

Take The Spot and Daintree Teacake collided soon after the start. Celtic Charm, Nangar Tiger and Ego Yar collided at the 150m mark. Celtic Charm and Nangar Tiger collided approaching the 50m mark.

MEETING COMMENTS:

Stewards were advised at 9:40am that the power box had tripped out at the mains power causing loss of power at the boxes. This was rectified by the local electrician and the boxes were tested without any further incident or delay to the meeting

Stewards stood Ms Tamara Crawford down from handling and catching duties during the kennelling process after noting that her licence had expired on 8 December 2017.
