Steward's Report
Stewards spoke to Mr David Jensen, the representative of Aeroplane Noah, regarding the length of time the greyhound has had between races. Aeroplane Noah last raced on 27 August 2017 and is returning after a hock injury.
Pursuant to GAR 104 (6) starter Mr Michael Craig did not act in any official capacity for this event; Mr Ryan Johnson was appointed starter for this race.
Isabella Girl was quick to begin.
Greysynd Hitman, Aeroplane Noah, Zachary Smith and Big Deal collided soon after the start, checking Zachary Smith and Big Deal. Aeroplane Noah and Big Deal collided at the 300m mark, checking Aeroplane Noah. Greysynd Hitman and Big Deal collided at the 250m mark, checking Greysynd Hitman. Greysynd Hitman and Big Deal collided approaching the 100m mark, checking Greysynd Hitman. Zachary Smith eased and lost ground at the 100m mark.
Zachary Smith was vetted following the event. After being re-vetted following event 4 it was reported that there was no apparent injury found. Stewards spoke to Mr Kenneth Howat, the trainer of the greyhound Zachary Smith, regarding the greyhound’s racing manners at the 100m mark. Acting under GAR 69(A)(1) stewards charged Zachary Smith with failing to pursue the lure with due commitment. Mr Howatt pleaded guilty to the charge, Zachary Smith was found guilty and suspended for 28 days at Healesville and it was directed that the greyhound perform a Satisfactory Trial (all tracks), pursuant to GAR 69(A)(2)(a) before any future nomination will be accepted.
