Stewards spoke to Mr Brent Merton, the trainer of Premier Back, regarding the length of time the greyhound has had between races.  Premier Back last raced on 17 March 2017 and is returning after a spell.  Mr Merton also declared a new weight of 30.3 kgs for the greyhound in accordance with GAR 39(2).  Premier Back last raced at 28.7 kgs.

Riverside Johnny and Batik Print were slow to begin.  Batik Print and Heartstring collided at the 100m mark.

Sweet Shiraz was vetted following the event.  It was reported that there was no apparent injury found.

Mr Daryl Evans, trainer of Miss Chloe Jane, declared a new weight of 27.7 kgs for the greyhound in accordance with GAR 39(2).  Miss Chloe Jane last raced at 28.8 kgs.

Stewards spoke to Mr Brent Merton, the trainer of Slow As Thunder, regarding his failure to appear at the kennels by the appointed time to retrieve the greyhound for racing, pursuant to GAR 46.

Mikey was slow to begin.  Silvagni Cubed and Slow As Thunder collided soon after the start.  King Henry and Day Walker collided soon after the start.  Silvagni Cubed checked off Slow As Thunder at the 250m mark.  Silvagni Cubed, Mikey and Miss Chloe Jane collided at the 200m mark, checking Mikey.  Slow As Thunder and Calabrese Magic collided at the 150m mark.  Mikey and Miss Chloe Jane collided at the 150m mark and again at the 100m mark, checking both greyhounds.

Stewards spoke to Mr David Willcocks, the trainer of Silvagni Cubed, regarding his difficulty in boxing the greyhound.  Stewards issued a warning against Silvagni Cubed for the greyhounds boxing manners.

Mr James Vandemaat, representative of Paua Te Kuri, declared a new weight of 28.8 kgs for the greyhound in accordance with GAR 39(2).  Paua Te Kuri last raced at 27.4 kgs.

Ernie's Legacy and Cosmic Lotus were slow to begin.  Okay Alpha and Cailah Rose collided soon after the start.  Gammy's Choice and Cailah Rose collided at the 200m mark.  Ernie's Legacy and Paua Te Kuri collided at the 100m mark.

Mr Kelvin Browney, trainer of Blanford Babe, declared a new weight of 27.9 kgs for the greyhound in accordance with GAR 39(2).  Blanford Babe last raced at 29.3 kgs.

A pre-race sample was taken from Destini Florida.

Go Go Guru was slow to begin.  Destini Florida stumbled at box rise and was slow to begin.  Steely Sprite crossed to the outside soon after the start and collided with Destini Florida.  Dynamite Jackson and Blanford Babe collided at the 300m mark.  Steely Sprite crossed to the outside at the 300m mark, causing Go Go Guru to race wide.  Dynamite Jackson and Blanford Babe collided at the 250m mark, checking Dynamite Jackson. 

Donkey Tron and Krank Panda collided soon after the start, checking Donkey Tron and Mon Mekki Kahn.  Xavier's Mate checked off Pretty Machine soon after the start.  Donkey Tron and Krank Panda collided at the 300m mark.  Xavier's Mate and Dynamite Dozer collided at the 250m mark.  Lunchmoney Lewis and Mon Mekki Kahn collided several times from the 200m mark to the 50m mark.

Keep Talking was slow to begin.  Flat Twin and Early Express collided soon after the start.  Quina Bale and Tiggerlong Nosey collided soon after the start.  Tiggerlong Nosey and Tricky Tron collided at the 300m mark.  Early Express, Abed Bale and Tricky Tron collided at the 250m mark.  Flat Twin and Early Express collided at the 200m mark and again at the 100m mark.

Johnny Black and Allen Ernie collided soon after the start.  He's Clever and Pesty Pyper collided soon after the start.  Pesty Pyper faltered at the 100m mark and tailed off.

Pesty Pyper was vetted and after being re-vetted following event nine, it was reported that the greyhound sustained left foreleg wrist and monkey injuries, a 14 day stand down period was imposed.

Acquainted was slow to begin.  Splash Of Blue and Bourbon An Kahn collided soon after the start.  White Diamond and Blackjack's Back collided at the 300m mark.  Acquainted checked off Bourbon An Kahn at the 250m mark.  

Oliver Cruise and Race Roquette collided soon after the start.  Race Roquette checked off Ninetymile Ace at the 300m mark; Race Roquette raced wide throughout the remainder of the event.  Meeniyan Jet and Mea Rose collided at the 300m mark.  Ninetymile Ace and Spa Squirtle collided at the 250m mark.  Mea Rose crossed to the rail at the 100m mark, checking Oliver Cruise and Meeniyan Jet.  Oliver Cruise and Mea Rose collided approaching the winning post.

Spa Primrose and Champagne Chaser collided soon after the start.  Sloan and Champagne Chaser collided at the 300m mark.  Jupiter Asending crossed to the outside at the 275m mark, checking Sloan, Champagne Chaser and Boston Light; causing Boston Light to race wide.

Champagne Chaser was vetted following the event.  It was reported that the greyhound sustained abrasions to the right foreleg foot, and right foreleg wrist and toe injuries, a seven day stand down period was imposed.

Prince Scarlet was slow to begin.  My Names Schultz and Go Levi collided soon after the start.  Hot Charmola and Kyl's Me Mate collided soon after the start.  Oaklands and Go Levi collided at the 250m mark.  Oaklands crossed to the rail at the 250m mark, checking Prince Scarlet.  Prince Scarlet crossed to the outside at the 200m mark and collided with Roshani's Dream, checking Prince Scarlet.

Prince Scarlet was vetted following the event.  It was reported that the greyhound sustained left foreleg stopper and wrist injuries, a 10 day stand down period was imposed.

Stewards spoke to Ms James Van Demaat, the representative of Simentone, regarding the length of time the greyhound has had between races.  Simentone last raced on 28 January 2017 and is returning after a left scapula injury.

A pre-race sample was taken from Von Costa Kahn.

Gotta Rush, Von Costa Kahn and Dragon's Den collided soon after the start.  Wheel And Deal and Simentone collided soon after the start.  Wheel And Deal crossed to the rail soon after the start.  Dragon's Den and Sun Choice collided at the 250m mark.  Shifty Joshua checked off Dragon's Den approaching the 150m mark and crossed to the outside.  Simentone faltered at the 150m mark and tailed off, checking Oscar and Sun Choice.  Dragon's Den and Sun Choice collided at the 100m mark.

Simentone was vetted following the event.  It was reported that the greyhound sustained cervico-thoracic and left hindleg triangle injuries, a 14 day stand down period was imposed.

Meeting Comments:

Satisfactory Trial Results - Sold Short trialled over the 350m from box eight, weight 33.3 kgs, the greyhound was placed second in a field of four.  The time of the trial was 19:30, the greyhound was beaten by a margin of 4.75 lengths.  Sold Short was Cleared.
