The start of this event was delayed by one-and-a-half minutes in order to hold for the Sandown thoroughbred meeting.
Sergei and Opalia Bale were slow to begin. Petra Allen and Banjo Fever collided soon after the start, checking Petra Allen. Billiluna, Petra Allen and Opalia Bale collided approaching the first turn, checking Petra Allen and Opalia Bale. Sketchy Nick and Banjo Fever collided approaching the first turn. Wadelock Sampson, Sketchy Nick and Banjo Fever collided on the first turn, checking Banjo Fever. Sergei checked off Billiluna on the first turn and collided with Opalia Bale.
