Chasing James was quick to begin. Ponting's Nail and Mr. Moonlight collided soon after the start, checking Ponting's Nail. Lektra Ash, Chilly Kiss and Amigo Two collided soon after the start, checking Chilly Kiss. Lektra Ash checked off Amigo Two approaching the first turn. Lektra Ash and Chilly Kiss collided approaching the first turn. Chilly Kiss galloped on the heels of Lektra Ash on the first turn, checking Lektra Ash. Ponting's Nail galloped on the heels of Amigo Two approaching the home turn and collided with Rowchester Star, resulting in Amigo Two and Ponting's Nail being checked. Amigo Two and Ponting's Nail collided in the home straight. Lektra Ash raced wide in the home straight.
