Steward's Report
Stewards spoke to Mr. P. Simone, the trainer of Lektra Sunset regarding the length of time the greyhound has had between races. Lektra Sunset last raced on the 27 November, 2015. Mr. Simone stated that the greyhound was returning to race after recovering from a groin injury and being on season.
Mr. P. Simone, trainer of Lektra Sunset declared a new weight of 30.1kg for the greyhound in accordance with GAR 39(2). Lektra Sunset last raced at 28.2kg.
Amon Flyer and Bronte's Magic were quick to begin. Lektra Sunset was slow to begin. Bronte's Magic crossed to the rail soon after the start, checking Lektra Sunset and severely checking Chabay Laray, Onya Jatt and Jack's Miss; causing Jaimandy Ruddy to fall. Amon Flyer crossed wide soon after the start, checking Spring As Sprung and Bronte's Magic. Bronte's Magic galloped on the heels of Amon Flyer approaching the first turn, checking Spring As Sprung. Lektra Sunset, Bronte's Magic and Spring As Sprung collided on the first turn, checking Lektra Sunset and Bronte's Magic. Onya Jatt and Jack's Miss collided on the first turn. Onya Jatt checked off Lektra SUnset on the home turn. Spring As Sprung and Amon Flyer collided entering the home straight. Onya Jatt raced wide in the home straight. Amon Flyer and Spring As Sprung collided approaching the winning post.
Jaimandy Ruddy was vetted following the event. It was reported that there was no apparent injury found.
Stewards spoke to Mr. T. Van Taarling, the trainer of the greyhound Bronte's Magic regarding the greyhounds racing manners soon after the start. Bronte's Magic was vetted following the event. It was reported that the greyhound sustained abrasions to the right hind toe and left thigh, a three day stand down period was imposed. Acting under GAR 69(B)(1), the stewards charged Bronte's Magic with failing to pursue the lure with due commitment (by reason of injury). Mr. Van Taarling pleaded guilty to the charge, Bronte's Magic was found guilty and stewards directed that the greyhound perform a Satisfactory Trial (all tracks) pursuant to GAR 69(B)(1)(a), before any future nomination will be accepted.
