Steward's Report
Escondido was a late scratching at 5.20pm on 22 June 2017 due to injury (GAR 23). A ten-day stand down period was imposed. Stewards will require a veterinary certificate before any future nomination will be accepted.
Pre-race samples were taken from Pergamon and Kathy's Lady.
Second Dan and Clear Sense collided soon after the start.
Major Gold crossed to the outside soon after the start, checking Still Just Under. Major Gold marred Second Dan at the 250m mark and again at the 200m mark, checking Second Dan. Pergamon and Kathy's Lady collided several times from the 250m mark to the 150m mark. Major Gold checked off Second Dan approaching the 200m mark. Pergamon and Major Gold collided approaching the 100m mark.
Major Gold was vetted following the event. It was reported that the greyhound sustained a spike wound to the right hind foot. A ten-day stand down period was imposed.
Stewards spoke to Mr Brian Hodgson, the trainer of the greyhound Major Gold, regarding the greyhound’s racing manners between the 250m and 200m mark. Acting under GAR 69(1) stewards charged Major Gold with marring. Mr Hodgson pleaded guilty to the charge, Major Gold was found guilty and suspended for 28 days at Healesville and it was directed that the greyhound perform a Satisfactory Trial (all tracks), pursuant to GAR 69(2)(a) before any future nomination will be accepted.
A sample was taken from Second Dan, the winner of the event.
