Stewards spoke to Ms Lina Repici, the trainer of Excuse Me Baby, regarding the length of time the greyhound has had between races. Excuse Me Baby last raced on 15 December 2016 and is returning after a left back toes injury. Ms Repici also declared a new weight of 31.2kg for the greyhound in accordance with GAR 39(2). Excuse Me Baby last raced at 32.3kg.

Mr Jason Hardy, Representative of Whacker Fancy declared a new weight of 26.4kg for the greyhound in accordance with GAR 39(2). Whacker Fancy last raced at 25.1kg.

Laniakea and Gold Rush Dozer were slow to begin.

Stewards spoke to Mr Hardy regarding the direction that the greyhound Whacker Fancy be boxed first. Acting under GAR 52(2), Stewards directed that this box first be removed.

Tommy Two and Benlura were slow to begin.

Tomm Two crossed to the outside soon after the start and collided with Benlura and Star's Big Boy. Tommy Two raced wide throughout the event.

Peter's Pride and Jack's Miss were slow to begin.

Ginger Warrior, Emperor Cruz and Redefined collided soon after the start. Dynamite Dozer crossed to the rail at the 250m mark, checking Ginger Warrior and Peter's Pride. Ginger Warrior and Redefined at the 250m mark, checking both greyhounds. Peter's Pride and Dynamite Dozer collided approaching the 200m mark and again at the 200m mark.

Ginger Warrior was vetted following the event. It was reported that the greyhound sustained a carpal sprain to the right wrist. A ten-day stand down period was imposed.

Showgirl Miss and Molly Walker collided soon after the start. Nangar Tiger, Rose Of Dyanna, Showgirl Miss and Molly Walker collided at the 250m mark. Rose Of Dyanna and Showgirl Miss collided at the 200m mark.

Stewards spoke to Mr. C. Brett, the handler of Fiery Nell, regarding the delay in boxing the greyhound for this event. Mr. Brett stated that the greyhound's rear toenail became momentarily caught in a screw access hole at the rear of the boxes. Stewards noted Mr. Brett's explanation and reffered the incident onto appropriate management.
