High Commando was slow to begin. Saahd was quick to begin. Saahd crossed to the outside soon after the start, checking Wild Douglas, High Commando and Hello Sunshine. Rangatang and Pita Milo collided soon after the start. Pita Milo checked off Big Jake approaching the 300m mark. Big Jake, Wild Douglas and Hello Sunshine collided at the 200m mark, checking Wild Douglas. Rangatang, Big Jake and Wild Douglas collided approaching the 150m mark, checking Rangatang and Big Jake.
