Big Black Jack, Hot Pedro and Gilberto were slow to begin. Gilberto and Tricky Trey collided soon after the start. Hot Pedro and Gilberto collided soon approaching the 300m mark, checking Hot Pedro. Zipping Nolen and Tricky Trey collided at the 250m mark, checking Tricky Trey. Zipping Nolen checked off Invictus Ivy at the 200m mark, checking Tricky Trey and Roll 'Em Mighty. Invictus Ivy and Zipping Nolen collided at the 150m mark, checking Zipping Nolen, Tricky Trey and Roll 'Em Mighty.
Big Black Jack was vetted following the event and after being re-vetted following race 7, it was reported that there was no apparent injury found.
