Stewards spoke to kennel attendant Mr. D. Keirl and trainer Mr. W. Gray (Why Not Lizzie) after it was established that Why Not Lizzie was placed in an incorrect kennel during kennelling. Mr. Keirl and Mr. Gray were reminded of their responsibilities in relation to pre race kennelling.
Omaha Club and Fearsome Warrior were slow to begin.
Kiss Me Ketut, Proven Maddy and Abrasive Manner collided soon after the start checking Proven Maddy. Belfort, Kiss Me Ketut and Abrasive Manner collided approaching the first turn. Kiss Me Ketut, Abrasive Manner and Tam's Wish collided approaching the first turn.
