Steward's Report
Stewards spoke to Mr. P. Brouwer, the trainer of Baron Bob regarding the length of time the greyhound has had between races. Baron Bob last raced on 26th December 2016. Mr. Brouwer stated that the greyhound was resuming racing following a left wrist injury. Mr. Brouwer also declared a new weight of 29.0kgs for the greyhound in accordance with GAR 39(2). Baron Bob last raced at 30.2kgs.
Stewards spoke to Mr. C. Taylor, the trainer of Kamchatka Kid regarding the length of time the greyhound has had between races. Kamchatka Kid last raced on 9th November 2016. Mr. Taylor stated stated that the greyhound was resuming racing following a left metacarpal injury.
A pre-race sample was taken from Baron Bob upon arrival at the course, prior to kennelling.
Kamchatka Kid was slow to begin. Skidlisha, Outa Manila and Baron Bob collided soon after the start checking Outa Manila and Baron Bob. Skidlisha and Maximum Tess collided on the first turn checking Maximum Tess. Baron Bob contacted the running rail on the first turn and tailed off as a result. Slow To Burn and Beluga collided approaching the home turn. Exford Peggy and Kamchatka Kid raced wide in the home straight. Maximum Tess checked off Skidlisha in the home straight and raced wide as a result.
Baron Bob was vetted following the event. It was reported that the greyhound sustained injuries to its right monkey muscle and left thigh muscle. A 21 day stand down period was imposed.
