Merl's Angel was slow to begin. Tri Code Saint and Little Bit Shiny collided soon after the start, checking Little Bit Shiny. Tri Code Saint checked off Stylish Bree on the first turn. Stylish Bree, Lodge's Express and Spring Top collided on the first turn, checking Tri Code Saint and Lodge's Express, and severely checking Merl's Angel, Cosmic Lotus and Spring Top. Tri Code Saint and Markinch collided in the home straight. Markinch checked off Little Bit Shiny approaching the winning post.
