Steward's Report
Stewards spoke to Mr B Fothergill, the trainer of Swift Fozz, regarding the length of time the greyhound has had between races. Swift Fozz last raced on 9 November 2016 and is returning to racing after a right metatarsal injury. Mr Fothergill declared a new weight of 33.8 kgs for the greyhound. Swift Fozz last raced at 35.0 kgs.
Galantis was quick to begin. My Name's Polly was slow to begin. Big Cold Burst, Swift Knockout and Tink Allen collided soon after the start. Swift Fozz, All Inn Genghis and Swift Knockout collided approaching the first turn. All Inn Genghis, Bombora Comet and Swift Knockout collided approaching the first turn, checking Bombora Comet. Swift Fozz and Galantis collided on the first turn, checking Galantis. Galantis, Swift Knockout, All Inn Genghis, Big Cold Burst, Bombora Comet and My Name's Polly collided on the first turn, checking All Inn Genghis and My Name's Polly. Stewards spoke to Mr J Frusher, the trainer of the greyhound Bombora Comet regarding the greyhounds racing manners approaching the winning post. Bombora Comet was vetted following the event. It was reported that the greyhound sustained a left foreleg spike wound, a three day stand down period was imposed. Acting under GAR 69(B)(1), the Stewards charged Bombora Comet with failing to pursue the lure with due commitment (by reason of injury). Mr Frusher pleaded not guilty to the charge, Bombora Comet was found guilty and Stewards directed that the greyhound perform a Satisfactory Trial (all tracks) pursuant to GAR 69(B)(1)(a), before any future nomination will be accepted.
