Steward's Report
The Club Veterinary Surgeon examined Burra Flight and no illness was detected. The greyhound was a late scratching at 11:27am due to weight variation (GAR 39). A 10 day stand down period was imposed. Strewards spoke to Mr. K. Kubik, the trainer of Burra Flight after it was established that the greyhound's last start on 17 February 2017 (weight - 28.7kgs) was not recorded on the weight card. Mr. Kubik informed Stewards that he had taken over Training Burra Flight on 22 February 2017 and as the last start was not recorded on the weight card he was preparing the greyhound for todays race as per the weight recorded from it's start at Ballarat 16 January 2016 (28.2kgs). Stewards noted Mr. Kubik's explanation and no fine was issued.
Addition (5/3/17) - After taking into consideration the unusual circumstances surrounding the late scratching of Burra Flight, Stewards on this occasion lifted the 10 day stand down penalty previously imposed on the greyhound.
Move It and Puzzled Royal were slow to begin. Move It crossed to the outside soon after the start. Hey Shaza Fozz and Why Not Becky collided at the 250 metre mark. Prince Stealth marred the running of Tiger Rising at the 100 metre mark checking Tiger Rising and Why Not Becky.
Prince Stealth was vetted following the event. It was reported that there was no apparent injury found.
Stewards spoke to Mr. R. Boyce, the trainer of the greyhound Prince Stealth regarding the greyhound's racing manners at the 100 metre mark. Acting under GAR 69(1), Stewards charged Prince Stealth with marring. Mr. Boyce pleaded guilty to the charge. Prince Stealth was found guilty and suspended for 28 days at Healesville and it was directed that the greyhound perform a Satisfactory Trial (all tracks), pursuant to GAR 69(2)(a) before any future nomination will be accepted.
