Steward's Report
Stewards spoke to Mr. W. Bickerton, the trainer of the greyhound Cleo's Boy regarding the length of time the greyhound has had between races. Cleo's Boy last raced on 29th July 2016. Mr. Bickerton stated that the greyhound was returning to racing after a change of kennel. Mr. Bickerton also declared a new weight of 32.2kgs for the greyhound in accordance with GAR 39(2). Cleo's Boy last raced at 30.7kgs.
A pre-race sample was taken from Cleo's Boy.
We Froff Dat and Booma Mikado were quick to begin. Cleo's Boy was slow to begin. Booma Mikado crossed to the rail soon after the start checking Booma Mikado, Miss Pepperoni, Willowvale Pearl and We Froff Dat. We Froff Dat and Booma Mikado collided on the first turn checking Booma Mikado and severely checking We Froff Dat; We Froff Dat stumbled and checked Miss Pepperoni and Vic For Short and severely checked Cleo's Boy as a result. Miss Pepperoni checked off Vic For Short on the home turn.
Booma Mikado was vetted following the event. It was reported that the greyhound sustained split left front webbing. A 10 day stand down period was imposed.
