Steward's Report
Track Curator Mr. H Brodie advised stewards that the track was harrowed on Monday 5th October.
Kokoda Eclipse, Chivalry and Princess Strike were slow to begin. Destinee Saint and Chivalry collided soon after the start. Ma Ma Keogh and Dark Obsession collided soon after the start. Princess Strike and Chivalry collided on the first turn, checking Ma Ma Keogh. Kokoda Storm and Dark Obsession collided on the first turn, checking Kokoda Storm. Kokoda Eclipse and Chivalry collided several times from the first turn to the second turn, severely checking Kokoda Eclipse. Princess Strike eased approaching the third turn and lost considerable ground. Princess Strike, Chivalry and Destinee Saint collided approaching the home turn.
Princess Strike was vetted following the event. It was reported that the greyhound sustained an injury to the right back muscle and a spike wound to the right front paw, a 7 day stand down period was imposed.
A sample was taken from Dark Obsession - the winner of the event.
Stewards spoke to Mr. C. Russell, the trainer of the greyhound Princess Strike regarding the greyhounds racing manners approaching the third turn. Acting under GAR 69(A)(1) stewards charged Princess Strike with failing to pursue the lure with due commitment. Mr. Russell pleaded guilty to the charge, Princess Strike was found guilty and suspended for 28 days at Warrnambool and it was directed that the greyhound perform a Satisfactory Trial (all tracks), pursuant to GAR 69(A)(2)(a) before any future nomination will be accepted.
