Steward's Report
Strongbeth was quick to begin. Sheoak Blue Boy and Play A Kazoo were slow to begin. Strongbeth, Dragon Empire, Diamond Apple and Maisy Mac collided on the first turn checking Diamond Apple, Straw Hat Luffy and Play A Kazoo. Play A Kazoo galloped on the heels of Diamond Apple on the home turn checking both greyhounds. Sheoak Blue Boy and Maisy Max collided in the home turn and in the home straight. Sheoak Blue Boy, Maisy Max, Straw Hat Luffy, Play A Kazoo and Dragon Empire raced wide in the home straight.
Stewards delayed signalling the All Clear for this event due to a concern with the positioning of the lure on the first turn. After viewing the official race footage Stewards were satisfied that the positioning of the lure did not affect the outcome of the event and the All Clear was given on the numbers 2-3-4-8
Stewards spoke to Mr D. Maye, Geelong GRC Lure Driver, regarding the positioning of the lure in this event and made him aware of his responsibilities (GAR 55(1)).
Diamond Apple was vetted following the event. It was reported that the greyhound sustained injuries to the left thigh, a 3 day stand down period was imposed.
