Kibibi underwent a pre-race veterinary examination and was passed fit to take its place in the field.
Destini Spark and Roll 'Em Mighty were slow to begin. Airball and Fade Away collided soon after the start. Fade Away and Destini Spark collided approaching the first turn. Fade Away, Destini Spark, Kimanator and Roll 'Em Mighty collided on the first turn, checking Destini Spark and Kimanator. Kibibi raced wide approaching the second turn and on the second turn. Kibibi faltered on the third turn and fell.
Kibibi was vetted and revetted following event four. It was reported that the greyhound sustained severe cramping and injuries to the right thigh and right pencil muscles, a seven day stand down period was imposed.
Stewards spoke to Mr. George Dailly, the handler of the greyhound Kibibi. Acting in accordance with GAR 71 (Cramp), Stewards directed that the greyhound must perform a Satisfactory Trial before any future nomination will be accepted.
