A pre-race sample was taken from Dr. Melezar.
Dr. Melezar was quick to begin. Jett Zafonic, Dr. Watson and Dr. Illuminate were slow to begin. Jett Zafonic, Rubrica and Direct Deal collided soon after the start checking Rubrica, Direct Deal and Dr. Watson. Dr. Kestrel and Rubrica collided approaching the first turn checking Dr. Kestrel, Rubrica and Direct Deal. Dr. Kestrel, Rubrica, Direct Deal, Dr. Watson and Dr. Illuminate collided on the first turn checking Dr. Kestrel, Direct Deal and Dr. Illuminate and causing Rubrica to fall. Dr. Illuminate contacted the running rail on the second turn.
Rubrica was vetted following the event. It was reported that the greyhound sustained an injured left scapula, a 14 day stand down period was imposed.
