Steward's Report
Spooky Spook was slow to begin. Flowering Rose crossed to the rail approaching the first turn checking Baron Bob, Chum's Special, Cullquin Annie and Seven Two. Chum's Special, Baron Bob and Environmentalist collided approaching the first turn checking Baron Bob and Environmentalist. Seven Two and Flowering Rose collided on the first turn checking Seven Two. Chum's Special, Little Ferret and Spooky Spook collided approaching the home turn checking Little Ferret. Chum's Special and Spooky Spook collided approaching the home turn checking Chum's Special. Chum's Special raced wide on the home turn and in the home straight. Spooky Spook checked off Cullquin Annie in the home straight. Cullquin Annie and Flowering Rose collided in the home straight. Spooky Spook eased approaching the winning post.
Spooky Spook was vetted following the event. It was reported that the greyhound sustained an injury to its left monkey muscle. A 10 day stand down period was imposed.
Stewards spoke to Mr. D. Taylor, the trainer of the greyhound Spooky Spook regarding the greyhound's racing manners approaching the winning post. Acting under GAR 69(A)(1), stewards charged Spooky Spook with failing to pursue the lure with due commitment. Mr. Taylor pleaded guilty to the charge. Spooky Spook was found guilty and suspended for 28 days at Ballarat and it was directed that the greyhound perform a Satisfactory Trial (all tracks), pursuant to GAR 69(A)(2)(a) before any future nomination will be accepted.
