Steward's Report
A urine sample was taken from Oriental Estella upon arrival at the course.
A pre–race urine sample was taken from Valasan.
Paw Kestell and Oriental Estella were slow to begin.
Valasan raced wide turning into the home straight.
Valasan (visibly eased turning out of the back straight) underwent a post–race veterinary examination and was found to have a right triangle muscle injury. A 5 day stand down period was imposed. Stewards spoke to trainer Mr. Frederick Zeinert regarding Valasan’s racing manners. Acting under the provisions of GAR 125, Valasan was charged with failing to pursue the lure with due commitment (by reason of injury). Mr. Zeinert pleaded guilty to the charge. Valasan must perform a Satisfactory Trial in accordance with GAR 125, and pursuant to GAR 132, before any future nomination will be accepted. Mr. Zeinert advised Stewards that he intends to retire Valasan.
A post-race urine sample was taken from Boston Legal - the winner of the event.
