Steward's Report
Mr. Stephen Reed, trainer of Zelemar Zonk re-declared a new weight of 26.5kg for the greyhound in accordance with GAR 39(2). Zelemar Zonk last raced at 28.2kg.
Stewards spoke to Mr Donald Rhodes the trainer of Jungle Jane and reminded him of his responsibilities regarding his failure to appear at the kennels by the appointed time to retrieve the greyhound for racing (GAR 46).
Jungle Jane was quick to begin. Dignity Diamond, Runnin'On Gas and Tricky Mover were slow to begin. Zelemar Zonk was checked off Our Miss Nitro on the first turn. Dignity Diamond was checked off Zelemar Zonk on the first turn checking Runnin'On Gas and Tricky Mover, both greyhounds raced wide as a result. Ugo Flash eased entering the home straight and collided with Our Miss Nitro. Oh So Serious and Jungle Jane collided in the home straight. Ugo Flash, Our Miss Nitro and Zelemar Zonk collided approaching the winning post.
Runnin'On Gas was vetted following the event. It was reported that there was no injury apparent.
Stewards spoke to Mr. Brian Sonneman the trainer of the greyhound Ugo Flash regarding the greyhounds racing manners entering the home straight. Ugo Flash was vetted and after being re-vetted following event 6, it was reported that the greyhound sustained an injured left and right chest muscle and right elbow, a 10 day stand down period was imposed. Acting under GAR 69(B)(1) the Stewards charged Ugo Flash with failing to pursue the lure with due commitment by reason of injury. Mr. Sonneman pleaded guilty to the charge, Ugo Flash was found guilty and Stewards directed that the greyhound perform a satisfactory trial all tracks pursuant to GAR 69(B)(1)(a) before any future nomination will be accepted.
