A pre-race sample was taken from Wai Nui Lea.
Rail Rider and Wai Nui Lea were quick to begin. Bush Wacked, Wilma's Thunder and Stressful were slow to begin. Stressful checked off Saintly Miss soon after the start. Bush Wacked and Wilma's Thunder collided approaching the first turn checking Bush Wacked. Bush Wacked checked off Stressful on the first turn. Wilma's Thunder and Stressful collided approaching the home turn and again on the home turn severely checking both greyhounds and causing both greyhounds to race wide as a result.
