Steward's Report
Always My Way – Late scratching at 12.50pm when Mr. Derek Faulknall reported the greyhound to have diarrhoea (GAR 76). A 10 day stand down period was imposed. Stewards will require a veterinary certificate pursuant to GAR 19(3)(w) before any future nominations will be accepted.
A pre-race sample was taken from Pirate Tails.
Evie Maldini was quick to begin. Droopy's Brew was slow to begin.
Pirate Tails underwent a post-race veterinary examination - no apparent injury was reported. Stewards spoke to Trainer Ms. Carly Absalom regarding Pirate Tails' racing manners in the home straight. Ms. Absalom submitted to Stewards that Pirate Tails' racing manners in the home straight were the consequence of the interference caused by Pirate Tails attempting to get to the running rail. Due to the interference, Stewards were not comfortably satisfied that Pirate Tails' racing manners constituted a breach of the rules and subsequently took no further action.
Rowcliffe Ruslie was severely checked and contacted the running rail in the home straight. A post-race veterinary examination revealed a mild tarsal sprain (hock). A 5 day stand down period was imposed.
A post-race sample was taken from Orson Beauty - the winner of the event.
