Little Big Rig was quick to begin. Studly Dan, Planet Pluto and Sheoak Alf collided soon after the start checking Planet Pluto and Sheoak Alf. Studly Dan and Rare Onyx collided several times approaching the first turn checking Rare Onyx. Studly Dan, Planet Pluto and Claudio's Comet collided on the first turn. Sheoak Alf and Rare Onyx collided on the first turn. Five's Alive checked off Claudio's Comet on the first turn and lost ground as a result. Studly Dan checked off Planet Pluto on the home turn and raced wide as a result. Studly Dan raced wide in the home straight. Five's Alive was vetted following the event. It was reported that the greyhound sustained an injury to its right thigh, a 7 day stand down period was imposed. Stewards spoke to Mr D Lockwood, trainer of Sheoak Alf, and reminded him of his responsibilities in retrieving the greyhound from its kennel prior to the event.
