Meeting Comments:

Tuesday, 28 February 2023 - Stewards finalised an adjourned inquiry with Ms. Maria Barber from the Traralgon Greyhound Racing Club Meeting held on Wednesday, 22 February 2023. The subject of the inquiry involved Ms. Barber's conduct toward the On-Track Veterinarian and conduct in the kennel building during kennelling. Ms. Barber pleaded not guilty to a charge of GAR 165(a) in that she engaged in conduct that was detrimental and/or prejudicial to the image and control of greyhound racing. Stewards found Ms. Barber guilty as charged and imposed a penalty of $500.00, with $250.00 suspended for a period of 24 months pending no similar offences or further breaches of the relevant rule.

Bow Now lost considerable ground approaching the 100m mark, underwent a post-race veterinary examination and was found to have a left triceps muscle injury. A 14 day stand down period was imposed.

Lovely Days faltered and lost ground approaching the 150m mark, underwent a post-race veterinary examination and was found to have a right-hind pectineus injury. A 14 day stand down period was imposed.

Jack Out – Late scratching at 10:58am due to weight variation (GAR 101). A 10 day stand down period was imposed. Trainer Mr. David Schwarz was fined $100.00.

Redeeming Lilly was quick to begin. Diamond For Evie was slow to begin.

Laquita Star and Chief Benja raced wide throughout.

Kanji Tank - New declared weight of 36.5kg, last raced at 38.2kg. 

Irish Hope was slow to begin.

Don't Tell Greg was slow to begin.

Super Marli – Late scratching at 6:47am when Mr. Clint Capuano reported the greyhound to have diarrhoea (GAR 76). A 10 day stand down period was imposed. Stewards will require a veterinary certificate pursuant to GAR 19(3)(w) before any future nominations will be accepted.

William Coin and Lala Quick were slow to begin.

Big Bull lost ground approaching the 100m mark, underwent a post-race veterinary examination and was found to have a right triceps muscle injury and a laceration to the right foreleg. A 28 day stand down period was imposed.

Larry And Harry was slow to begin.

Cyclone Sophie – Late scratching at 10:59am due to weight variation (GAR 101). A 10 day stand down period was imposed. Trainer, Mrs. Leonie Dalton was fined $100.00.

Ziggy Boy, Hot Cross and Thunder Struck were slow to begin.

Hot Cross shifted out and raced ungenerous approaching the winning post. Stewards spoke to trainer Mr. Joe Uglietta regarding the racing manners of Hot Cross. After hearing submissions from Mr. Uglietta, viewing the available race footage and having their own observations, the Stewards issued a warning to connections regarding the greyhound’s racing manners approaching the winning post.

Trainer Ms Rebecca Romyn was fined $50.00 for failing to ensure the registration card was produced for the greyhound Run Ruby Run, pursuant to GAR 88.

Cher's Hand was slow to begin.

Off The Radar visibly eased approaching the winning post, underwent a post-race veterinary examination and was re-examined at 3:30pm - no apparent injury was reported. Stewards spoke to trainer Mr. Joshua Formosa regarding Off The Radar’s racing manners. Acting under the provisions of GAR 124, Off The Radar was charged with failing to pursue the lure with due commitment. Mr. Formosa pleaded guilty to the charge and Off The Radar was suspended for 28 days at Healesville and must perform a Satisfactory Trial in accordance with GAR 127, and pursuant to GAR 132, before any future nomination will be accepted.

Bruree Man – Failing to Pursue (by reason of injury) – Field of 5, Distance: 300m, Weight 31.6kg, Box 1, Placed: 4th, Time Run: 17.105 – Comment: Cleared All Tracks.
