A pre-race sample was taken from Rothwell Elzinga.
Chase The Magic and Riverdale Socks were quick to begin. Rothwell Elzinga was slow to begin.
Vinny Can Gogh underwent a post-race veterinary examination at the trainer's request and was found to have a spike wound to a right hind toe. A 3 day stand down was imposed.
Rothwell Elzinga marred Rothwell Random approaching the home turn. Stewards spoke to Trainer Matthew Nash regarding Rothwell Elzinga’s racing manners approaching the home turn. Acting under the provisions of GAR 123 Rothwell Elzinga was charged with marring. Mr Nash pled guilty to the charge, Rothwell Elzinga was found guilty and suspended for three months at all tracks and must perform two satisfactory trials in accordance with GAR 127, and pursuant to GAR 132, before any future nomination will be accepted. Mr Nash advised that the greyhound would be retired.
