Steward's Report

In accordance with the GRV Hot Weather Policy, this meeting was deemed ‘Heat Affected’. At the commencement of kennelling, the outside temperature was 35.3 degrees and the kennel temperature was 18.2 degrees. Stewards continually monitored the temperature at the venue, as per the GRV Hot Weather Policy.

Last Cast and Cowboy Cold was slow to begin.

Pies And Sauce underwent a post–race veterinary examination at the trainers request and was found to have a spike wound on the left calf. No stand down period was imposed. 

Powder Dry (eased and turn it's head outwards in the home straight) underwent a post–race veterinary examination and was found to have no apparent injury. Mr. John Caulfield declined the option to have the greyhound re–examined. Stewards spoke to Mr. Caulfield regarding Powder Dry’s racing manners in the home straight. Acting under the provisions of GAR 124, Powder Dry was charged with failing to pursue the lure with due commitment. Mr. Caulfield pleaded not guilty to the charge. Powder Dry was found guilty and suspended for 28 days (1st offence) at Bendigo and must perform a Satisfactory Trial in accordance with GAR 127, and pursuant to GAR 132, before any future nomination will be accepted.

Cowboy Cold (eased and turn outwards in the home straight) underwent a post–race veterinary examination and was found to have no apparent injury. Mr. Paul Radstock declined the option to have the greyhound re–examined. Stewards spoke to Mr. Radstock regarding Cowboy Cold’s racing manners in the home straight. Acting under the provisions of GAR 124, Cowboy Cold was charged with failing to pursue the lure with due commitment. Mr. Radstock reserved his plea to the charge. Cowboy Cold was found guilty and suspended for 28 days (2nd offence) at all tracks and must perform a Satisfactory Trial in accordance with GAR 127, and pursuant to GAR 132, before any future nomination will be accepted.

Stewards spoke to Mr. Darren Fisher regarding the racing manners of Right Hand Rocky turning off the back straight. After hearing submissions from Mr. Fisher, viewing the available race footage and having their own observations, Stewards took no further action. 

A post–race urine sample was taken from Right Hand Rocky – the winner of the event.
