Meeting Comments:

The Stewards were advised that the track was medium harrowed following the race meeting on Sunday, 20 March 2023.

Following inclement weather in the area this morning, Stewards conducted an inspection at 2:00pm and subsequently deemed the track suitable for racing.

Missile Dani was quick to begin. Rachael's Tears was slow to begin.

A post-race sample was taken from Blue Demon (winner) and Starline Express (2nd).

A post-race sample was taken from Zara Marnie (winner) and Trapper Tears (2nd).

Out of competition samples were taken from Dundee Patsy and Big Energy on 22 March 2023, pursuant to GAR 139.

Big Energy was slow to begin.

Big Energy raced ungenerous in the home straight. Stewards spoke to trainer Mrs. Jacqueline Greenough regarding the racing manners of Big Energy. After hearing submissions from Mrs. Greenough, viewing the available race footage and having their own observations, the Stewards issued a warning to connections regarding the greyhound’s racing manners.

A post-race sample was taken from Cheeky Wink (winner) and Akina Jack (2nd).

A sample was taken from Dragon Inn upon arrival at the course.

Crackerjack Boom was quick to begin. Supply Chain, Modern Swinger and Voice Of Thunder were slow to begin,

Extreme Force underwent a post-race veterinary examination - no apparent injury was reported. Stewards spoke to Mr. Aaron Debattista regarding Extreme Force's racing manners turning out of the back straight. Mr. Debattista put forward to Stewards that he believed the reason for Extreme Force losing ground and handing up the lead on the turn may have been due to the greyhound having its heels clipped. After viewing all the available race footage and acting on their own observations, Stewards could not be comfortably satisfied that the greyhound had breached any of the relevant Rules of Racing and subsequently gave Extreme Force the benefit of the doubt on this occasion. No further action was taken.

A post-race sample was taken from Dundee Rebel (winner) and Launch Code (2nd).

Out of competition samples were taken from Canya Exceed, Transponder and Promises Broken on 22 March 2023, pursuant to GAR 139.

Canya Exceed and Tammy were quick to begin.

A post-race sample was taken from Cayna Exceed (winner) and Make No Promise (2nd).

An out of competition sample was taken from Al's Entity on 21 March 2023, and from Try Catch Up on 22 March 2023, pursuant to GAR 139.

Victa Alby, Blazing Dodge and Fiorano were quick to begin. Flip Your Fifty was slow to begin.

Fiorano turned its head and shifted outwards approaching the winning post, underwent a post–race veterinary examination and was found to have a spike wound. A 3 day stand down period was imposed. Stewards spoke to kennel representative Mr. Luke Thompson regarding Fiorano’s racing manners. Acting under the provisions of GAR 125, Fiorano was charged with failing to pursue the lure with due commitment (by reason of injury). Stewards initially considered the charge of marring but were not comfortably satisfied that the charge was made out based on the head-on vision that was available to them. Mr. Thompson pleaded guilty to the charge of failing to pursue the lure with due commitment (by reason of injury), and Fiorano must perform a Satisfactory Trial in accordance with GAR 125, and pursuant to GAR 132, before any future nomination will be accepted.

A post-race sample was taken from Victa Alby (winner) and Al's Entity (2nd).

Out of competition samples were taken from Shadow's Secret and Breeze Breaker on 22 March 2023, pursuant to GAR 139.

Breeze Breaker raced ungenerous turning into the home straight and in the home straight, underwent a post-race veterinary examination and was found to have a right hindleg hock, hamstring and pencil injury. A 10 day stand down period was imposed. Stewards spoke to trainer Mr. David Geall regarding the racing manners of Breeze Breaker in the home straight. After hearing submissions from Mr. Geall, viewing the available race footage and having their own observations, the Stewards issued a warning to connections regarding the greyhound’s racing manners in the home straight.

A post-race sample was taken from Meteor Monelli (winner) and Trooper Tears (2nd).

Xanadu was quick to begin. Crackerjack Aret and Flying Butcher were slow to begin.

A post-race sample was taken from Hector Fawley (winner) and Osprey Athena (2nd).

An out of competition sample was taken from Pest Management on 21 March 2023, and from Awakening Dawn on 22 March 2023, pursuant to GAR 139.

Mystic Moment was quick to begin. Aston Kalkara and Lawless were slow to begin.

A post-race sample was taken from Minter Frost - the winner of the event.

Lakeview Patsy, Lady Lily Hook and Orca were quick to begin.

Lady Lily Hook faltered and subsequently tailed off turning out of the back straight first time around, underwent a post–race veterinary examination and was found to have a right hindleg back muscle injury. A 60 day stand down period was imposed.

Lakeview Jordy was slow to begin.

A post-race sample was taken from Rhino Bale - the winner of the event.

Springview Noah was slow to begin.

Aston Gamble lost ground over the concluding stages, underwent a post–race veterinary examination – no apparent injury was reported. Stewards spoke to kennel representative Mr. Brayden Klemke regarding Aston Gamble's overall performance in the event. In accordance with GAR 122, the Stewards requested Mr. Klemke to report as soon as practicable anything that may have affected the running of Aston Gamble in the event, which was not noted by Stewards during or immediately after the event.
