Steward's Report
An out of competition sample was taken from Flying Redeemer on 20/12/2022.
A sample was taken from Coppola Bale upon arrival at the course.
The start was delayed by approximately two minutes due to holding for a harness race at Pinjarra.
Yellow Hawk, Tessa Poppy, Ferocious Betty and Xyloid Bale were quick to begin. Trending Yale and Kanji Waco were slow to begin.
Yellow Hawk (lost ground over the concluding stages) underwent a post-race veterinary examination, re-examined following race 5 and found to have a sesamoid injury to the left fore. A 14 day stand down was imposed. Yellow Hawk was also issued a warning for failing to run past the return gate.
Tessa Poppy marred Yellow Hawk approaching the winning post. Stewards spoke to representative Mr. B. Keel regarding the greyhound’s racing manners in the home straight. Acting under the provisions of GAR 123 Tessa Poppy was charged with marring. Mr. Keel pleaded not guilty to the charge, Tessa Poppy was found guilty and suspended for 28 days at Ballarat only and must perform a satisfactory trial in accordance with GAR 127, and pursuant to GAR 132, before any future nomination will be accepted.
A post–race sample was taken from Xyloid Bale – the winner of the event.
