Buddy Junior was slow to begin. Why Not Sam crossed to the outside soon after the start checking Bowstreet Buster. Nikita's Storm checked off Why Not Sam approaching the first turn. Buddy Junior checked off Nikita's Storm approaching the home turn. Roxy Nice and Jay's Spirit collided several times approaching the home turn. Nikita's Storm checked off Jay's Spirit approaching the home turn checking Roxy Nice. Why Not Sam veered in and marred the runing of Bowstreet Buster on the home turn.
Why Not Sam was vetted following the event. It was reported that the greyhound sustained an spike injury to its right foot, no stand down period was imposed. Under GAR 69(1)(a) stewards charged Why Not Sam with marring and suspended the greyhound for 28 days at Geelong and directed that the greyhound perform a Satisfactory Trial All Tracks, pursuant to GAR 69(2)(a) before any future nomination will be accepted.
