Steward's Report
A pre-race sample was taken from Ava's Prediction.
Inga Meg was quick to begin. Ava's Journey was very slow to begin - 3 lengths.
Shadow Jewel checked off Go Go Loopy soon after the start. Candy Gem and Olinda Patsy collided approaching the first turn. Candy Gem visibly eased approaching the first turn and collided with Ava's Journey. Mt. View Jewel checked off Inga Meg on the first turn and lost ground. Ava's Prediction checked off Olinda Patsy on the first turn. Olinda Patsy, Inga Meg, Go Go Loopy and Ava's Prediction collided on the home turn. Candy Gem visibly eased approaching the winning post.
Olinda Patsy underwent a post-race veterinary examination at the Trainers request and was found to have a laceration on the right hind leg. A 5 day stand down period was imposed.
Candy Gem underwent a post-race veterinary examination and was found to have injuries to the left monkey muscle and left triangle muscle. A 14 day stand down period was imposed. Stewards spoke to Mr John Musselwhite, the representaitve of Candy Gem regarding the greyhound’s racing manners approaching the winning post. Acting under the provisions of GAR 69A(1) Candy Gem was charged with failing to pursue the lure with due commitment. Mr Musselwhite pleaded not guilty to the charge, Candy Gem was found guilty and suspended for 28 days at Cranbourne and must perform a Satisfactory Trial in accordance with GAR 69A (2) and pursuant to GAR 72, before any future nomination will be accepted.
