Steward's Report
Essential persons (both Staff & Participants) attending today, undertook successful health screenings, wore face-masks, observed social distance requirements and adhered to room density quotients that in-turn, permitted entry to the venue for exclusive race-day functions and operations.
Ava's Journey was slow to begin.
Chill Out Berty and Mr. Ten Percent collided soon after the start checking Mr. Ten Percent. Loch Terrace, Reiko Shock and Reiko Bingle collided soon after the start. Ava's Journey and Mr. Ten Percent collided on the first turn checking Ava's Journey. Ava's Journey and Mr. Ten Percent collided approaching the home turn. Hurricane Ace and Loch Terrace collided on the home turn checking both greyhounds. Chill Out Berty turned it's head outwards towards Affair Fantasy several times on the home turn and in the home stright checking both greyhounds.
Chill Out Berty underwent a post-race veterinary examination and was re-vetted following race 5. It was found Chill Out Berty sustained a left back muscle injury. A 7 day stand down period was imposed. Stewards spoke to handler, Mr. Josh Duncan regarding the greyhounds racing manners on the home turn and in the home straight. Acting under the provisions of GAR 69B (1), Chill Out Berty was charged with failing to pursue the lure with due commitment (by reason of injury). Mr. Duncan pleaded guilty to the charge, Chill Out Berty was found guilty and must perform a Satisfactory Trial in accordance with GAR 69B (1) and pursuant to GAR 72, before any future nomination will be accepted.
A post-race urine sample was unable to be obtained, a blood sample was subsequently taken from Reiko Bingle - winner of the event.
