Steward's Report
A pre-race sample was taken from Crusoe Kid.
Loony Luna was quick to begin. Rival Wiggy, Halloumi and Crusoe Kid were slow to begin.
Halloumi checked off Seabrook Dow on the first turn. Open Hearted checked off Laid Back Larry on the first turn. Rival Wiggy and Open Hearted collided approaching the home turn. Open Hearted visibly eased in the home straight and subsequently tailed off.
Open Hearted underwent a post-race veterinary examination and was found to have no apparent injury. Trainer Mr Thomas Boehmke declined the option to have the greyhound re-vetted. Stewards spoke to Mr. Boehmke regarding the greyhound’s racing manners in the home straight. Acting under the provisions of GAR 69A(1) Open Hearted was charged with failing to pursue the lure with due commitment. Mr. Boehmke pleaded guilty to the charge, Open Hearted was found guilty and suspended for 28 days at Ballarat only and must perform a satisfactory trial in accordance with GAR 69A(2) and GAR 72, before any future nomination will be accepted.
