Steward's Report
Nigerian Kaboom was quick to begin. Gunther and Reiko Bingle were slow to begin.
Al's Draw Four, Emma's Double and Miss Rose Water collided soon after the start checking all three greyhounds. Lonely Jenny, Al's Draw Four and Miss Rose Water collided approaching the first turn. Al's Draw Four checked off Emma's Double on the first turn. Miss Rose Water checked off Reiko Bingle on the first turn. Emma's Double checked off Reiko Bingle on the first turn. Al's Draw Four checked off Miss Rose Water approaching the home turn. Al's Draw Four and Emma's Double collided on the home turn checking both greyhounds. Nigerian Kaboom visibly eased and turned its head outwards in the home straight.
Nigerian Kaboom underwent a post-race veterinary examination - no apparent injury was reported. Stewards spoke to Trainer Mr Paul Hofman regarding the greyhound’s racing manners in the home straight. Acting under the provisions of GAR 69A(1) Nigerian Kaboom was charged with failing to pursue the lure with due commitment. Mr. Hofman pleaded guilty to the charge, Nigerian Kaboom was found guilty and suspended for 28 days at Ballarat only and must perform a satisfactory trial in accordance with GAR 69A(2) and GAR 72, before any future nomination will be accepted.
