There was no back straight head on vision for this event.
California Blond was quick to begin.
Yellow And Black and Anita's Special collided approaching the first turn. Liberty Royal contacted the running rail on the first turn. Love A Collision galloped on California Blond on the first turn severely checking Love A Collision which fell as a result. California Blond and Alecia collided approaching the home turn. California Blond visibly eased and turned it's head outwards in the home straight. Yellow And Black visibly eased and turned it's head outwards and marred California Blond in the home straight.
Love A Collision underwent a post-race veterinary examination and was found to have a left shoulder injury. A 14 day stand down period was imposed.
Liberty Royal underwent a post-race veterinary examination and was found to have minor abrasions to the left elbow and radius/ulna soreness. A 3 day stand down period was imposed.
California Blond underwent a post-race veterinary examination and was found to have superficial abrasions to the left hind toes. No stand down penalty was applied. Stewards spoke to Ms. Susan Northway, the trainer of California Blond regarding the greyhounds racing manners in the home straight. Acting under the provisions of GAR 69 B (1), California Blond was charged with failing to pursue the lure with due commitment (by reason of injury). Ms. Northway pleaded not guilty to the charge, California Blond was found guilty and must perform a Satisfactory Trial in accordance with GAR 69 B (1) and pursuant to GAR 72, before any future nomination will be accepted.
Yellow And Black underwent a post-race veterinary examination and was found to have a left shoulder injury. A 5 day stand down period was imposed.
Stewards spoke to Mr. Kevin Ward, the trainer of Yellow And Black regarding the greyhound's racing manners in the home straight. Acting under the provisions of GAR 69 (1) Yellow And Black was charged with marring. Mr. Ward pleaded guilty to the charge, Yellow And Black was found guilty and suspended for 3 months all tracks and must perform a Satisfactory Trial in accordance with GAR 69 (2) (b) and pursuant to GAR 72, before any future nomination will be accepted.
